The Nebraska Huskers lost in a blowout against the Washington Huskies, 83-62.
Sunday’s game was an emotional loss for the Huskers as four of their own celebrated their final home game wearing the scarlet and cream. Tears flowed during the post-game ceremony that recognized seniors Alberte Rimdal, Kendall Moriarty, Kendall Coley and Alexis Markowski.
“This place has meant everything to me,” Markowski said. “Not only did I live out a lifelong dream, but it was even better than I ever could have imagined. Everyone has taken me in and loves me for who I am, and I've been able to show up as myself every day.”
The game started on even footing, with a tied score of 21-21 at the end of the first quarter. By half, Washington was only up 39-37.
The Huskies came out of the locker room after halftime prepared to show up. The score quickly got away from the Huskers, with the Huskies leading by 28 during the fourth quarter. Washington hit Nebraska with screens they couldn’t get past, forcing uncharacteristic turnovers for Nebraska.
With the loss, the Huskers drop to 18-10 overall and 9-8 in conference. Nebraska will be on the road for their last regular season game on Sunday, March 2, against Northwestern at the Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Illinois.
Senior Kendall Moriarty (15) reaches out to senior Alexis Markowski (40) during senior night after the game against Washington on Feb. 23, 2025, at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Moriarty and Markowski played their final game at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday.
